THEIST_WATCH Msg : 7 Written : 06/13/94 05:18pm From : ROBIN MURRAY-O'HAIR Status : To : ALL Subj : Grand Alliance THE GRAND ALLIANCE It might not be all that threatening if this movement was confined to religious nuts in small towns here and there, for civilization could actually sneak into those towns in the future. The danger is that big, powerful, political entities are in on it too. On March 28 the Roman Catholic church and Evangelical Protestants joined to issue a commitment of mutual concern. They titled the twenty-five-page document which announced the deal "Evangelicals and [Roman] Catholics Together: the Christian Mission in the Third Millennium." You only need to see the core statement to realize the trouble we are in. That said: Christians are to teach and live in obedience to the divinely inspired Scriptures, _which are the infallible word of God_ . . . . The coalition includes 58 million Roman Catholics and 24 million Evangelical Protestants. Are you really saying, together with Alfred E. Newman, "What! Me worry?" You can better bet your behind that you should. *********************************************************************** * * * American Atheists website: http://www.atheists.org * * PO Box 140195 FTP: ftp://ftp.atheists.org * * Austin, TX 78714-0195 * * Voice: (512) 458-1244 Dial-THE-ATHEIST: * * FAX: (512) 467-9525 (512) 458-5731 * * * * Atheist Viewpoint TV: avtv@atheists.org * * Info on American Atheists: info@atheists.org, * * & American Atheist Press include your name and mailing address * * AANEWS -Free subscription: aanews-request@listserv.atheists.org * * and put "info aanews" in message body * * * * This text may be freely downloaded, reprinted, and/other * * otherwise redistributed, provided appropriate point of * * origin credit is given to American Atheists. * * * ***********************************************************************
