HOME OF LESBIAN ACTIVIST FIREBOMBED DURING D.C. MARCH TAMPA OFFICIALS REFUSE TO CLASSIFY ATTACK AS A HATE CRIME NATIONAL AND LOCAL MEDIA FAIL TO REPORT INCIDENT The home of Dee DeBerry, a lesbian activist and outspoken PWA (Person With AIDS) was firebombed and destroyed after she and other lesbian PWAs met with Donna Shalala, Secretary of Health and Human Services, in Washington. Her home was firebombed on Saturday April 24, 1993, after she received five threatening phone calls warning her that she would be killed and her house would be burned down should she go to the D.C. march. Thousands of lesbinas will converge on Tampa June 12-14, 1993 in protest. -------------------------- The City of Tampa, like the State of Colorado, voted to overturn Lesbian and Gay Rights Legislation. This is the result. The RIGHT to live in peace and not have your home firebombed IS NOT A "SPECIAL RIGHT". If this is not a hate crime, tell me, what is? Stop the violence against Lesbians & Gay Men. End the silence! ** For further information leave me a message at City People BBS, RIME Gay Issues, Conference, FIDO Gaynews Conference or P-News Conferences or email: abilsky@panix.com Peace. Allan.
