I am still looking for this reference. I came up with "Does God Exist?: The Great Debate" (1990), though, which contains this bibliographic info on Moreland. "J.P. Moreland has a Th.M. in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, an M.A. in philosophy from the University of California at Riverside, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Southern California, where he studied under Dallas Willard. He has taught philosophy at Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA) and is beginning a teaching position at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University (La Mirada, CA) as professor of philosophy of religion." Hmm... this doesn't say where Moreland got his training in science. Obviously an oversight, right?
