In article <17121@life.ai.mit.edu> whatis@pogo.gnu.ai.mit.edu (....What Is?....) writes: >>>LRH did a lot of top secret work and had two files: the real one, >>>kept very safe, and the "sheep dip" one, which was a fake one made >>>to cover up the existence of the real one. > >My source is a letter written by Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty, USAF >(retired), who lives at 4201 Peachtree Place, Alexandria, VA 22304. Well, whoop-de-do. Just who is this guy, and why should people believe him any more than you (or me for that matter)? >I'll quote the first paragraph: > > "I am writing this affidavit to provide proof of the fact that the >records, data and related materials provided by the U.S. Navy (USN) and >other government sources, all said to be the complete record and file >on the military service, active and inactive, of Mr. L. Ronald Hubbard, >formerly Lt. Commander U.S. Navy Reserve, are incomplete. I also >attest to the fact that those materials and records provided give ample >evidence that proves the existence of other records that have been >concealed, withheld and overlooked. Further research on this project >demands the discovery and production of the missing documents." Interesting, I'll admit. But I'd want to see the rest of it to see just what this "proof" is. >I can back up my claims with more than innuendo. Can you? I can't haul out documents like that one, if that's what you mean. I'm not a Scientology researcher; I don't have time to do a full investigation of LRH's life. But other people have already done just that. I've already named my source - _Bare-Faced Messiah_ by Walter Miller - and as I said in a previous post, anyone who wants to know the facts can read that book and read the Church of Scientology's version and decide for themselves which one is more convincing. My choice is pretty obvious, as is yours. But I just may write to the address you give, and see if anything comes of it. ------------------------------------------------------------------ __ Live from Capitaland, heart of the Empire State... ___/ | Jim Kasprzak, computer operator @ RPI, Troy, NY, USA /____ *| Disclaimer: RPI pays me to work, not to think. \_| "A spirit with a vision is a dream with a mission" -Rush =3D=3D=3D=3D e-mail: jimcat@rpi.edu or kasprzak@mts.rpi.edu
