Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The

Indian businessmen freed as embezzlement charges dropped

Three Indian businessmen accused of defrauding two former East
German textile firms of nine million marks (5.3 million dollars)
were released here on Thursday because of insufficient evidence,
judicial sources said.

Sanjay and Anurag Dalmia joint owners of the Dalmia group and
Aspy Mehta an associate were detained Wednesday on the strength
of a suit filed by the Treuhand office responsible for selling
off the economic assets of the former communist state.

The Treuhand accused the three men of taking nine million marks
from two former East German firms which they bought in 1991 and
transferring the money to an account in Malaysia.

The loss of the money had brought the two firms, Faser A.G. and
Saechsische Kunstseide GmBH which together employ 1,850 people,
to the brink of bankruptcy, according to the Treuhand.

The Berlin public prosecutor ruled that the charges were
"insufficient" to warrant keeping the three men in custody but
ordered the investigation to continue, a spokesman said.

The Dalmia brothers and Mehta who are all from New Delhi said the
Treuhand owed them 8.5 million marks (five million dollars) which
they said they were promised to cover outstanding debts of the
two firms.

The Treuhand meanwhile said it was trying to establish whether an
unidentified sect had played a role in the Dalmias' operations in
eastern Germany. The Treuhand said it had "information" to this
effect but did not elaborate.

Several German press reports have said the Church of Scientology
and the Moon sect had moved into eastern Germany and had bought
up several firms using front men.
