Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The
Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes
the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the
questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to
those who report. - Fredric L. Rice, The Skeptic Tank, 09/Sep/95

Quotes from and comments on
_Introduction to Scientology Ethics_
(1985 edition)
Beginning on page 45 are the ethics codes.
Paragraph four: " . . . this Code of Offenses and
their penalties becomes firm and expressed policy."
The offenses are listed in ascending order, 1) errors,
2) misdemeanors, 3) crimes and 4) high crimes.
One of the listed offenses under crimes is: "Holding
Scientology materials or policies up to ridicule,
contempt or scorn". Uh, oh!
The next section of the book describes "suppressive
acts" - any activity undertaken to interfere with or do
away with scientology. People who indulge in these
acts are called "suppressive persons or groups".
A downpedaled version of the "Fair Game" policy can be
found under a later section, "Rights of a Suppressive
Person or Group": "Truly Suppressive Persons or Groups
have no rights of any kind as Scientologists and legal
actions taken against them are not punishable under
Scientology Ethics Codes." Remove the words "as
Scientologists" and "legal", which were added to
protect the church's rear, and you have the "Fair Game"
policy.
NOTE: A scientologist *cannot* take legal action against
another scientologist in good standing, but must use
church mediation.
