Since some of the materials which describe the $cientology cult could be
considered to be copywritten materials, I have censored myself and The
Skeptic Tank by deleting any and all possible text files which describes
the cult's hidden mythologies. I have elected to quote just a bit of the
questionable text according to the "Fair Use" legal findings afforded to
those who report. - Fredric L. Rice, The Skeptic Tank, 09/Sep/95

Hello to you observant types who noticed "alt.religion.scientology" on Jon
Atack's computer screen and decided to check us out. You will find the
claims made in that programme to be substantiated by the many articles and
affidavits that critics are archiving (I expect there will soon be a
repost of the most interesting stuff).
Surprising though it may sound, The Big Story didn't convey (in its
twenty-odd minutes) the full horrors of Scientology. The program only
mentioned *one* suicide: the number of suicides within Scientology is very
probably into treble figures. It only hinted at Scientology's
heavy-handed tactics to silence its critics. They did not have time to go
into Scientology's criminal acts, such as their attempt to
infiltrate governments around the world. Information on all
this is available in the form of Web pages, ftp sites, articles and books.
Scientology's critics in the UK believe that our government should be
introducing legislation to protect people from unscrupulous and unethical
"therapies." If you want something done about Scientology, send the
following statement:
I/We respect the individual's right to religious freedom.
I/We support the demand for a full Government enquiry into the
Church of Scientology in the UK, its activities and 'religious' status.
with your name and address to

Stay tuned and make sure you keep your friends informed about what
Scientology is really like.
