What's scary is that they would have regarded this interview as a *success*. Scientology PR operates a concept known as "PRO Area Control", or PROAC (yes, unfortunate acronym I know - no wonder they got so pissed at Eli Lilly!). The PRO (Public Relations Officer) is required to "control" the area around him to create a positive image for Scientology and a negative image for its enemies. When applied to a media interview, this means "impinging" on an interviewer (hence the shouting) and "outsourcing theta" (hence the rant about psychiatry, which enabled Jentzsch to divert the conversation away from the interviewer's "entheta" about Lisa McPherson's death).

In this context, it's worth quoting excerpts from Heber Jentzsch's "Full Hat Checksheet" - his training plan, issued by OSA Int on 28 January 1988 and leaked (whoops) some time later. Here are some quotes showing the nature of Jentzsch's PR duties:
