Notice: Fredric Rice may have removed segments of the replies given to questions if they contained copyrighted materials. After a very short while, Scientology "experts" refused to answer questions and started cut-and-pasting copyrighted cult propaganda. Additionally I removed URLs in some of the replies, and left them in others. And it's also important to note that eventually the unfortunate "Greg Churilov" cultist was ejected from askme.com for his typical Scientological behavior.

Anonymous asked this question on 5/10/2000:

What role does the Illuminati play in suppressing Scientology?

honorarykid gave this response on 5/10/2000:

The Illuminati does not exist, so it plays no role in suppressing Scientology, or anyone else for that matter.

But if your question was, "what role does a false belief in the Illuminati play..." then that's a horse of a different color.

Scientologists are inculcated with several different beliefs in global and even intergalactic conspiracies. Hubbard was so paranoid and laden with science fiction fantasies, I'm sure he just couldn't help himself. He built these fears of the Tenyaka Memorial and the Marcab 5th Invader fleet and the Illuminati all into the fabric of Scientology. Many Scientologists really do believe this stuff.

Check out the answers from fellow AskMe.com expert cer56 for an example of this.

What role do these false beliefs play? I think they make people afraid, unnecessarily. That's a shame. But it serves Scientology's goals. To keep people in a high-control group such as Scientology, the "us vs. them" warlike mentality can be a powerful binding influence. Ask anyone who has ever gone through boot camp or fought in a war.

This web page (and The Skeptic Tank) is in no way connected with nor part of the Scientology crime syndicate. To review the crime syndicate's absurdly idiotic web pages, check out www.scientology.org or any one of the many secret front groups the cult attempts to hide behind.

Further facts about this criminal empire may be found at Operation Clambake and FACTNet.
