URGENT: Open Letter to Legal Guild and Video Activists

Right Wing Radicals use threats to intimidate political activists from conducting a legal and peaceful protest.

With threats of violence, large numbers of legal observers and video activists are urgently necessary to insure the safety of those protesting in Garden Grove. They are using the Internet to insight an anti-communist frenzy in Vietnamese populations, are opening threatening Duane Roberts, and are discussing assaulting people exercising their freedom of speech on public sidewalks. There have been several announcements of this over the public airways, and if major organizations choose not to attend, the right wing vigilantes may attack the peaceful protestors. Below is a stream on their conversation. Spread the word that this MUST be larger than BP if it is going to remain safe. If you cannot attend, you may wish to email people you know so everyone knows about it.

"I'm sending this message out to make people aware of the fact that Jim Gilchrist, the founder of the fascist "Minuteman Project", will be speaking at the Garden Grove Women's Club on Wednesday, May 25th at 7:30 pm.

Gilchrist has been invited to speak there by the California Coalition for Immigration Reform (C.C.I.R.), one of the groups responsible for putting the racist Proposition 187 on the California ballot in 1994.

I live a couple of miles away from the Garden Grove Women's Club, and I know as a fact there is a fairly long public sidewalk that surrounds the building which houses it. It's also right next to a major street.

Although I'm not currently involved in organizing a counterdemonstration, I think one definitely needs to take place! We need to show our strong opposition to racism, fascism, and xenophobia!

If even a 10th of the people that came out for Baldwin Hills show up for this, that guy will need a police escort to get in and out of that hall.

Idea: Dress up like neo-cons and buy a ticket to get in. It' s worth the five bucks just for a chance to rush the stage and grab the mic. :-)

My source tells me that they're getting *lots* of calls opposing Gilchrist's effort to organize vigilantes in SoCal--even the GG police have called the Women's Club with concerns. Keep those phone calls coming!

This is interesting...your take on what constitutes "racist images".

A bullet leaving a gun, held by a person of indeterminate race is a "racist image"? How is that in any way directed at any race, BY any race? In order to be "racist" there has to be some degree of "race" involved. Do flying bullets have a "race"? Is shooting strictly a function of one race toward another?

A copy of a freeway sign warning of pedestrians on the road is a "racist image"? Does this mean that CALTRANS is a racist organization and if so, of what race are they and what race is be denigrated by the warning sign, as are seen all along Interstate 8 and elsewhere?

Does this mean that the U.S. Goverment condones of, and participates in "racism" since they allow these signs on interstate highways? Wouldn't Title 18 USC 241 prevent these signs if they were in some way "racist"???

A copy of a mexican flag with a circle and slash is a "racist image"? Really? and what "race" are "mexicans", and what is the race of the poster of same? I will give you a clue: he's an American-born hispanic whose parents immigrated to the US legally, if I have read him properly. Its awful hard to find "racism" where there is no racial difference, even if "mexican' was a "race" per se.

Lastly An "undocumented border patrol agent" is somehow racist"? " Border patrolmen are all ALL races and are heavily hispanic. The illegal aliens are of all races and heavily hispanic. Please explain how this could be racist.

Lets assume since i am a conservative that i can't possibly be as smart as you, since we all know that the left is the only "holder of the truth". Even though I am a paralegal with a focus on civil rights, peace officer certified and college educated I am sure you know more than me and that is why I am not seeing the "racism" you're seeing. please calify and give me the benefit of your wisdom by answering teh above questions. STAND DOWN ON THE PROTEST OF CCIR.

Please help us spread the word, we are asking for everyone to stand down on the protest of Jim Gilchist's visit.

Some of the Latino ranks of our brothers and sisters on the left want us to engage and support their political plans, but we need to wait.

Most of these immigration groups are against Bush and against CAFTA and the FTAA. They share our fight. Many of them are also against this corrupt war, but they support the troops.

There's no evidence that their motivations are racist that we can find in print. We need unity in the face of Globalism and these groups are on the same side as we are.

They are fellow citizens that are realizing the American government is completely under the control of multi-national corporations with an agenda.

Our national peace movement and allies need to shut those pushing this protest down before it harms our efforts against Bush and CAFTA and the war.

Who has attacked who here so far? An elderly woman was hospitalized after the BP rally as far as I know by a bottle thrown by some cowardly bandana clad thug.

She was white, does that make it a hate crime on top of elderly abuse?

What excuse would you be able to make for physically attacking someone over what they say? What did the people around this individual do? Grab him and hold him for the police to show that they don't support that type of behavior? Nah.. of course not. They cheered.

There were hispanic people present at BP. I wasn't there, but I've seen the pictures. And there are Hispanic and African American's on the SOS forums.

Janet, you are SOOOO right! Bless you for your vision and widsom. On so MANY points the anti-illegal people are on the same side as those protesting against us. It isn't about race and never has been. We are of all races. it is about a a president and congress who are failing to do their jobs while lying to the nation. It is about the damage done by NAFTA and FTAA/CAFTA, about the illegally hiring by American Employers and the exploitation of the illegals whom they hire. It is about the loss of social services for Americans of ALL colors because we're supporting the 3rd world within our borders. The very people who are screaming "RACIST" should embrace this movement as their people, the working class blue collar folks, are the very people who are losing their jobs, schools, and social services to these invaders of all races.

This is madness to be at each other's throats when we all want the same thing (excluding the reconquistas, of course)

We want decent pay for decent work, national security, availibility of hospitals and good education for our families, safety in our own homes and on the road & politicians who represent US.

Something is really wrong when life as an illegal alien starts looking better than being a legal American for many of our poor Americans. If your poor and need medical help, I suggest to walk into the hospital and tell them you don't speak English and you’re not from here. They have to take care of you, right? Anyways, this huge inflects of illegals will never be good for us. Our government and their bed pals, corporate America, have a divine plan. It's called poverty for most of us and wealth beyond your imagination for the politicians and the companies taking over every mom and pop business across the country and the world. If you don't wake up the $5 minimum wage will be the standard for most Americans for many, many years to come. NAFTA is designed to spread wealth, supposedly, throughout the NAFTA member’s countries. It will do that to some extent, but the truth is it's designed to drive down the wages in this country, to make the greedy even richer.

Beyond that, how in the hell can we compete with countries which have little to no environmental or safety standards. We can't compete with that, we must insist they have the same standards or our jobs will continue to exit this country or use import taxes on there products, this might even stimulate manufacturing in this country again.

Beyond the problem of millions of illegals flooding into this country, terrorists and the threat of nuclear attack are more evident now than ever. There are more and more countries around the world that have nuclear weapons or they can easily acquire them.

This reason alone was enough for be to realize the importants of border control. I’ve never been an activist of any kind until now. Yes I am a Minuteman, it’s the only project currently out there that is doing a thing about the problem. Our government has thrown the border towns and there people to the wolves. Sure they pretend to be concern and they go through the motions but remember, corporate America is now running the show. Nearly every politician out there is in the back pocket of multiple special interests. WAKE UP AND TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY.

There definately is alot of talk of civil war, and if there is, Americans will win.

The best thing, you can do to help yourself, and any of your friends, that are in my country illegally, is to leave.

There is at most, 23,000,000 illegal Mexican immigrants.

We will win, in the end, but before we win, thousands upon thousands of innocent people will die, all because of you.
