bc edwards ranch Edwards Chihuahua Ranch Puppy Has Mange Breeders Are Non-responsive Chandler Oklahoma!!. I bought a puppy last August 2019 from the Edwards. They used to live in Colorado, then moved to Oklahoma. They drove the dog out from Oklahoma and I picked him up in Colorado Springs. I was told that they first took the dogs to be checked out before they would release them for sale. I bought a “blue” chihuahua for $400.00. He is a great little dog, but his fur was always kind of odd. She told me the day I bought him not to worry that his fur would grow in just fine. Well, it never did. Not only was his fur sort of patchy (he’s a long-haired chihuahua), but his skin always looks uncomfortably dry and scaly. With the help of my vet, we have tried many different remedies for his skin to no avail. The final try was a steroid cream, which took all his hair off. Then my vet realized that it was not a body process but a bacterial, fungal, or parasitic process. After doing some skin scraping, we could see under the microscope that he had demodex, or demodectic mange. This is not usually found in dogs in Colorado, which is probably why it took so long to come to this conclusion, but it is definitely a problem in Oklahoma. I have tried to reach the Edwards, and gotten no response at all from them concerning this. They just won’t respond to me. In the contract, they guarantee the dog for a year, and the year isn’t up until July. I wonder how many other dogs they are selling that have this parasite? It is a very problematic for dogs, “Symptoms of Demodectic Mange Include: persistent itching hair loss / bald spots / alopecia scabbing sores / lesions redness scaling Demodectic mange can be generalized (occurring throughout the body), localized (to one area), and can also develop as mange of the paws. Symptoms of dogs with localized demodectic mange arise in one area — you may find a few bald spots or other symptoms around your petu2019s face, trunk, elbows, or legs. Generalized mange crops up in multiple area”(Pet Care Rx, 2018). I am very bothered by the fact that they are ignoring my emails. That is bad business, and bad for the pets. At least they could take the precautions to make sure that all the puppies don’t have it. I guess this is one of the cautionary tales about breeders. Very disturbing.
